I wanted to say hello in this forum just like the participants that will be apart of this forum. My name is Matthew King, I run two successful businesses as of this post. I want to be available and create a place that can help others that want to start successful businesses as well. However, I will say that don’t expect to go without failure. During my business venture, I had opened a 2nd business, after starting my 1st one. The second one was retail based, sold clothes, partnered with vendors that wanted to donate part of their profits to military veterans, and provided assistance to veterans that were in trouble.

Unfortunately, that 2nd business failed. I had to close it in 2015. I had failed at my second attempt to start a business and I had gotten into some debt. I was lucky to have an already established business to get me back to safety. However, for most people this would have been their stopping point. After taking a year to recovery from the debt that racked up from the 2nd business venture. I started a third in web design, graphic design, marketing, and writing with the help of key team members. The 3rd business has now been running smoothly since early 2015.

With that behind me, it was on to the next venture, and so I started Startup-Forums.com to provide people like me a source and a place to find like minded people and share resources.

Great start by Matthew King. Its a great example to quote when we say entrepreneurs fail, learn, rise and succeed again. Cheers !

Definitely! People shouldn’t be afraid of failure as you often learn from it so you can do even better the next time! My failure taught me patience, that I didn’t need to offer all the tools all at once or come out of the gate as a business owner that offered the same features as amazon. It taught me to take it slow, grow my business, and slowly expand. Not only did it teach me patience but it taught me to give further thought into ideas I had. Honestly it was the best lesson in my career was to fail!

Hello all the participants of this forum. My name is Arundathi, working in an oraganisation. With an ambition to become an entrepreneur, i started developing small applications and had done marketing and installed them at client place. But could not spend much time in marketing for few years. Now i want to start new business. I wanted to know the areas where i can takeoff.

What type of business are you looking at starting off? Does it have anything to do with your current organization?

Awesome! for a store like that, you could go online with either your own website or you could use one of the selling platforms e-bay or amazon. I believe E-bay would be easier for those types of things. Do you already have some of these items in your inventory or are you starting completely fresh?

How are you going to acquire your inventory, what kind of research will you be doing before you decided to buy a product? Have you thought about doing a business plan yet?

Using E-bay could also be a great spot to maybe do your buying of said collectables to hold onto and sell at a later date. Another important measure, if you do start on e-bay or amazon make sure to start small with only a few listings at a time until you get the hang of it and test out how your products will do on these platforms.

I don’t think this really fits for what you are trying to do but you could also consider drop-shipping. Drop-shipping is pretty popular on stores like this. One of the best and largest ones I’ve seen is https://www.doba.com/partners/rendren

        Let me know your thoughts!

Can you share how do you raise funds for these startup companies?

We do not specifically help them raise funds, instead, we provide information on raising funds and help entrepreneurs connect with each other. As other experienced entrepreneurs on the site can talk about the way they went to about raising funds and what they tried, etc.

We also release blogs frequently to talk about different subjects in the start-up space. (See the first post for the idea behind the startup forums).
